PNG to WebP
Runs locally
WebP is the simplest way to make PNG images smaller for a website: the files are a fraction of the size and transparency is kept. Drop in up to 20 PNGs and download the WebP files. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works
Each PNG is decoded by your browser and re-encoded as WebP with the browser's own encoder, at the quality you set. Transparent areas are preserved. A few browsers can display WebP but cannot create it; if yours is one, the tool tells you instead of producing a wrong file.
Common use cases
- Making website images load faster
- Shrinking transparent logos and icons without losing the transparency
- Reducing the size of screenshots for documentation
Frequently asked questions
- Are my PNG files uploaded?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the files never leave your device.
- Does WebP keep transparency?
- Yes. Transparent areas of the PNG stay transparent in the WebP.
- Is the WebP lossless?
- No. This tool creates lossy WebP at the quality you choose, which is where the large saving comes from. At quality 90 the difference is hard to see.
- Can every browser show WebP?
- All current browsers can. Some older software and apps cannot, so keep the PNG if you need maximum compatibility.
