How it works
The PDF is read locally and checked against the real PDF file signature. Numbers are drawn onto each page with pdf-lib using a built-in Helvetica font — one of the PDF format's own Standard 14 fonts, so no font file needs to be fetched or embedded, and it renders identically in every PDF viewer.
Common use cases
- Numbering a report or contract before sending it out
- Adding page numbers to a document that was exported without them
- Restarting numbering from a specific page for an appendix
Frequently asked questions
- Does this upload my PDF anywhere?
- No. Page numbers are added entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
- Can I start counting from a number other than 1?
- Yes — set "Start at" to any number, useful when this PDF continues from another document.
- Where can the page number go?
- Bottom center, bottom right, top center, or top right.
