How it works
Each JPG is decoded by your browser and saved again as a PNG. PNG is lossless, so the picture is stored exactly as it looks now and editing and re-saving it will not degrade it further. It does not undo the compression the JPG already had.

- Are my JPG files uploaded?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the files never leave your device.
- Does converting to PNG improve the quality?
- No. It stops further quality loss, but detail the JPG already discarded cannot be recovered.
- Why is the PNG so much larger?
- PNG stores every pixel exactly, which takes far more space for photos than JPG does. If size matters, WebP is a better choice.
- Will the PNG have a transparent background?
- No. A JPG has no transparency to keep, so the PNG has the same solid background. Removing a background needs an image editor.
